Artist Talk and Making Session with Alice Walton

Through a fun and intensive day of creation you will learn how to coil and decorate a clay sculpture of your very own. Listen to Alice Walton talk about her practice, watch demonstrations of techniques for building structure and surface decoration in clay and be assisted to create your very own sculpture which will be fired ready for you to take home.

Techniques learnt will include; coiling and slab building, inlay, sgraffito, sponging, painting, carving, spraying, masking and stencilling. 

Taught by local ceramicist and artist Alice Walton, students will come away from this intensive day course with a greater understanding of handbuilding and decorating with slips and stains.

Learn from demonstrations and workshops with added visual inspiration from other practicing artists and Alice’s samples. Explore coloured slips, layering techniques and collaging surfaces to build rich and exciting personalised items which you will be able to take away with you.

Alice welcomes beginners to intermediate students to this relaxed, informal and fun learning environment.
